Set, Series, Sequence - Octopus
For the Set, Series, Sequence brief my word is "Octopus". Unfortunately, there aren't many octopuses in Leeds so i will have to draw them from my imagination and use reference from the internet. I think the main thing people associate octopuses with are their suckers and their eight tentacles. They also have very large exaggerated cranial masses.
An octopus is also a recognized symbol for the Kraken which is a mythical giant sea monster that would take ships down into the ocean and tear them apart. This is an interesting subject for a drawing and i can take inspiration from existing artworks of octopuses, for example the advertising campaign behind "The Kraken" spiced rum is based on the Kraken and there is a computer generated version in the advert that looks alot more menacing than the advertisement below.
The octopus from finding nemo is a good example of how the appearance and form of an octopus can be twisted around and changed until it hardly looks much like a realistic octopus at all.
