The Old Man and The Sea - Aleksandr Petrov

The old man and the sea by Aleksandr Petrov is a beautiful animation based on Ernest Hemingway's novel of the same name. The technique used is oil paint on glass, due to this technique the colours are very vibrant and expressive. Petrov is obviously a master of animation, the movements are so believable and fluid and the characters move differently just as they would in real life. For example the old man moves slowly with a soft of hunch to his back whereas the boy moves with exaggerated movements and more enthusiastically. This all helps the animation to feel natural and immersive.
